download movies LEGALY

i though sumwere on the net (microsoft i think) said "shophie enjoys movies, so she subcribed to a service and using her dma and a computer wih Media centre 2005 she can watch her movies on her 52" tv

Did you read the thread? Anyway, no. I know there are some monthly subscrition services for Bittorrent downloads, but I don't know what type of content they have

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is perfectly legal to download movies.

What IS illegal is uploading them, or permitting them to be downloaded. If you look at the language used, everyone convicted of copyright infringment was done so on account of permitting others to download the copyrighted content.

Consider this, you donwload a movie, and don't permit it to be redistributed. What have you done? Eseentially you have "stolen" (depending on your morals) a product worth the price of the movie. However, if you permit others to download the same content, in effect distributing it, the damage is much more worth going after.

If your downloading movies, music, whatever - make sure you aren't making that content available to others; most fileshare p2p apps autopmatically share what you've downloaded.

It means that while it may be legal, it might not stop some DA from making an example out of you and paving the way for more suits like it.

I believe DIVX movies are legal are they not?

Mayube not real movies, but films. i have some computer animated movies of DIVX format that are totally legal. considered "movies" or "films" to me.
