I'm look for a program to do this see i download stuff alot with many different download sites and see say there are 10 rapidshare links on a page and i have to copy every single one and then click download etc. and that is just a pain is there anyway to highlight all of the links and start them at once? thanx

When downloading multiple files at the same time I usually set the option to auto close the box once the download is complete. Then I can a lengthy list of files being downloaded at the same time. Download Managers or bit torrents are the more common programs used for multiple downloads shown on one screen. You browse a site with the explorer feature in those to select each item for automatic downloading. When each is completed you remove that item from the list.

nah thats not what i mean i hate the part when you first choose to download and the files are split into parts and you have to click download one part and then download part 2 is then anyway to say highlight all of the parts and then click download all parts see like that

flashgot can do it

it automatically scans the HTML code for all files (pics, video, etc.) and you set it up to filter by file extension, and then it will automatically export the cue list to your chosen downloading program

it's a bitch to setup, tho

i usually just use DTA! it's not as automatic, but it's a lot easier to use

also keep in mind a lot of websites protect against leeching programs of any sort, and if you try and use a download manager, you just get a 404 error, and it can't download, or it gets a fake header, and downloads some dummy file.

about the only program i've found to download programs like this is called internet download manager, and it's a HUGE pain in the ass.

it catches not only files you've selected, but also imbedded fiels, and is CONSTANTLY popping up, and asking you where you want to save stuff, even when there's nothing you wanted to download!

Another problem obvious with downloaders of any type is the trojans and other crap you leave yourself wide open for. Despite the nuisance of clicking several links any firewalls along with anti-virus, spyware, adware programs will flag "bugs" when downloading individual files. Downloaders open the doors wide open for "whatever" too often.

I didn't know that I guess ill just play it safe and just stick to manually downloading the links thanx:D

It can be annoying! But that's less then having some worm or trojan downloader making your day even more miserable! This is I will simply click on one and minumize that to click on another when downloading from different links. I check the close when done box and let them do their thing. It frees up time for other things that way! :D

I recommend FlashGet. www.flashget.com It works with file-hosting sites like rapidshare and it's even tested and recommended by rapidshare.

Or if you use Firefox, there is an AWESOME free plugin called DownThemAll. Check it out. You can use filters so that it only downloads files with the extensions you designated etc... etc... It has a lot of handy and simple to use features. It searches the page you are viewing and finds the links that match your criteria. Then, you can start downloading right away or queue the links for later download.

However this plugin is not meant for pages like rapidshare.

Sure, it's good to keep things like trojans and worms in mind, but I wouldn't go to the extreme and say I will only download things one by one. There is a balance between being careful but also being efficient and there is a reason why there are handy download managers out there. They are a great help and it doesn't mean that your computer turns into one big vaccuum cleaner that sucks in all the malware in cyberspace. It's just like everything else - you have to be smart and alert as to where/who on the internet you chose to download things from.

I'll have to give that a try when I use FireFox again. It goes on fast but needs a quick restart to complete the install.
