I have the Cingular Internet Connect USB drive. It's the newest one, and I'm in the 3G area. For some reason... my download speed is low, but my upload speed is very high. How can I boost up the download speed?

Thanks
Ross

Where did you test your speed?? i recommend speed net

What was happening on the network at the time you did the test???

When you do the test, have nothing going on, no one your network, no downloading, no MSN, NOTHING! Turn the other PCs off!! and then do the test.

I did use speedtest.net. that's the only site i had up, no other programs at all. this is the only computer the internet is working on. the results didn't make much sense.

i then went to QoS packet schedule and changed the reservable band width from 20 to 0, and the speed changed to 1091 kb/s Download... 7393 kb/s Upload!! What's goin on?? lol!

Well what is the speed suppose to be??? What is your plan???

If you don't know, contact your ISP.

they said to expect around 7mbps... right now it's reading 3.6 with a "low" signal strength. it's the same with a "good" signal strength though.

OH, your on wireless!!! Try a wired connection and see if you notice a different and do another speed test and see what it comes to.

There isn't a wired connection available. I'm using AT&T USB Connect Mercury. It looks like a jump drive that you put into a usb port in your computer, works kinda like a cell phone. Fortunately, we are in a 3G area, so we should be getting the fastest connection possible. It is only wireless, the cell phone tower is my router! lol. and it's only a few blocks away.

oh, right... i understand.... well maybe your cell, the one that the wireless is connected to is busy at the moment... and has a lot of things going....

Could be a number of things....

But i'm out of ideas, sorry :o

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. The USB sends out a signal, exactly like cell phones. It has a SIM card and a memory card as well. The signal may just be blocked. Do you know if there's any device that will boost cell phone signals?
