Download video from micro sd card to portable hard drive without using a computer

I travel several consecutive months each year and take many videos. I currently carry a laptop in order to download videos from my camera micro sd card. I woujld like to
leave my laptop at home and still be able to download the videos to a portable hard drive. Can someone tell me how to do that?

You could probably use USB OTG for a sdxc reader and external drive.

No idea if it would play well with a hub though. It'd also be a PITA to try to isolate specific data as opposed to dumping the whole card to the disk.
