Well hopefully this shouldn't happen, but there is no guarantee that it wont become corrupt/un-useable. If you want to do this, then I would recommend that you download a program specially created for this, that way, there is probably less chance of this happening ;)

If you are using a special program for downloading files that gives you the ability to support resuming downloads later, it is supposed that hitting pause andthen resume won't be a problem and the file will be completed normally and will be usable too.

If you are just using the normal downloader of the IE, there is no pause/resume button, so you will have to cancel the download and in most cases, you will have to start the download all over again from the beginning.

Note that some servers don't support download resuming, so even if you are using a special program like getright or Download Acc, so you won't be able to resusme a file if it's on a server like that.

If you're using a browser like MSN, Netscape, Internet Explorer, or Mozilla then the file will get corrupt. There are other special programs that allow you to pause a download and then resume it later (the file never becomes corrupt). I use them every time I download big files, it's very useful for 56k users like me. If you don't have one, I suggest you download the trial version of GetRight from http://www.getright.com.
