So...

Say some crazey millionair said they would let you build your dream computer and pay for it. what system would you build and how much do ya recon it would cost?

well i dont think that any top of the line computer build would cost that much that you need to be a millionaire to fund it.:D

but if a millionaire was to offer paying for a new pc for me obviusly it would be the best i could get.

How about a 1000 node, $1000 per-node cluster?:cool::cool::cool:

Considering all of the things you don't need in a node compared to a regular PC, it seems like you could get quite a bit of power out of it. But I hear the 10/100/1000 network adapters don't come cheap.:eek:
 
id build an SLI machine with 2 8800 Ultras, 680i mobo, 1000 watt psu, water cooling system, 2 500 gb hdd, 4 gbs of corsair RAM and the fastest AMD chip
 
i would like this one mr millionaire :)

or maybe the best alienware pc money can buy cuz their cases are sleek like the Fonz!! :D

I'd have, an Antec 900, 680i mobo, two 8800 Ultras in SLI, an Intel Quad Core (whatever the fastest is :P) and 4GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 RAM, A good PSU (modular), two 500GB HDD's and a great watercooling set :D

Anybody want to lend me some money? :P
 
ok i was thinking something along the lines of....

top of the line AMD Phenom Quad core when its realeased...new DirectX 10 ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT x2 in Crossfire...about 4Gb ddr2 RAM,2X 500gb Sata 2 HDD,Huge LCD monitor and Vista Ultimate x64:D

il take 2 of those machines please :D

yeah i think intel are in the lead at the moment alot but probably when AMD realease their AMD Phenom Quad core processors they will probably wipe the floor with intels quads...but they will be expensive and intels quad core will be cheaper.
 
I would LOVE to install Win95 on some new machine with like quad 8800s and 8GB of RAM and a quad core. Just to see what it would do.

Yeh, i must admit im slightly behind in the releases and the dates, need to set a day aside to catch up... The last i heard was the rumours of pheonm and the other cores in that family. Were aparently going to cream intel's "core"... it probably will, but now that intel have shaken off the utter rubbish that was netburst, they should be able to fight back a bit more and make it more even, have to wait and see i suppose.

Would be quite a turn if the OS was the only bottleneck in a system, lol...:|
