Hello.

Can someone please tell me the difference between the following: CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW), and 8X Slot Load CD/DVD burner (dual layer DVD+/- 8XDVDRW RW Drive)?

The first one is just your standard DVD Burner while the second one is slot loading, meaning that instead of having a pop out tray, you just slide the DVD into a slot. It's basically what all macbooks use.
 
Slots are more durable, get the slot one! :)
You won't accidentally break the disc tray if it comes out and you accidentally hit it or something.
