Driver Detective etc.

Hello all.

This follows my earlier thread. After reformatting my PC i'm experiencing some problems. My Mouse is jumping and the Monitor Screen fragments.

Hardware device shows some problems, with exclamation marks against, Mulimedia audio controller
System interrupt controller
Video controller VGA compatable

I have been told that I may need to update my Drivers, but don't know the best way to acheive this. I have run Driver Detective which as found 17 issues, but now requires my Credit Card details to continue, this as caused me to break out in a rash and start sweating:D

Is there a free Tool to do this task.

Steve.

DO NOT waste your time with stuff like Driver Detective. At least everything I've ever seen with that software is simply a waste. They don't work and tend to carry some kind of spyware.

You'd be better off finding the drivers yourself. If your computer is a mainstream brand (dell, HP, etc) they should have all the drivers posted on their website. If it's a custom build, the drivers should be avaliable through the manufactures website.

A program like PC Wizard is a great place to begin. It'll tell you everything about your computer. On the main page, it should essentially tell you all the brands and models of your hardware and should give you a great starting point as to what you should look for (if you can't get the drivers off a manufacturers website)
