Driver missing or corrupt?

Hi everyone, I'm not great with this sort of thing so I thought I'd see if any of you could help me. I'd really appreciate any advice. Hopefully I'm posting this in the right section..

So basically today I turned on the computer and got this message;

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language and then click next.
3. Click 'repair your computer.'

If you do not have this disc contact your system manufacturer for assistance.

File: \Windows\System32\Drivers\mdja.sys
Status: 0xc0000225
Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt.

I put in the installation disc but there was no option to restart the computer so all I could do was switch it off and then back on again but the same message came up rather than the stuff on the disc. It might seem obvious but I'm not sure how to go about it. Safe mode doesn't work either, it just returns to the message above. Basically I can't log on at all (I'm on a different computer at the moment).

Any ideas? Thanks, I really appreciate it.

you need to set the boot order to boot from cd first in the bios, then do a repair install of windows.

Oh, thanks. I want to try it only problem is I can't remember what key to press to get into setup (I tried F2 and some others after googling it). I think it normally says when I start up the computer but now it just goes straight to the message so I'm not sure what to do..

I would be concerned with that file name, that looks more like an infection than a valid driver file as there is no exact match doing a search online for that file name.

If I were you I would try booting to safe mode and do a system restore back a few days and then scan the system for viruses/malware.

I would try that only safe mode doesn't work. When I try to go into it, it just goes back to the main message about the 'missing or corrupt file.' So I'm a bit stuck.

If you gor acess to aonther computer:
Take the HDD out
Plug it in in another computer and run a full updated Anti-virus scan and also an updated Malwarebytes to the disk and that should do it.
After done that plug it in again in your computer case and try to boot from there normally.
If you dont have acess to another computer, then try to use ERD Commander Boot CD (its a payed software), boot from it and acess the system restore from there and run a date before the problem.
After doing that try to boot from your HDD if it does then delete all the systems restores (by turning the system restore off) and turn him back on again and create a brand new system restore (this precedure is just to delete that virus in the restore copies)
If you dont hace acess to none of this options then use the repair option
from Windows CD/DVD that you have.
Hope that helps with your Computer
