Driver Problem? Nvidia 6800 Xtreme.....

Ok not good not good not good.....

1 system I have now runs Age of Empires 3 great. Maxed out - nice and smooth.

I put together a new system and it's causing a heartache! (actually it's a modded emachine)

I got all new parts and replaced most of everything... here are my specs.

AMD Athlon 64 2.2 Ghz 3400+ 1mb L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB
1GB DDR Ram (3200)
Nvidia 6800 Extreme 256mb GDDR3 Video Card

When I load the game... as soon as it gets to the menu the screen freezes 10 seconds later..... or it will freeze 10 - 15 mins into the game - every time!

What is the problem? I really need this fixed. It can't possibly be the video card. It was running the game fine on high settings. Is it a driver? If it is I dont know which one to download. I can't seem to find the 6800 as an option. Do I download the driver for just GeForce? Could someone post a link to the driver I would need. Thank you.

They aren't going to have a driver for a 6800gt specifically. Just look for a slightly older driver and try that. Also if you have a spare video card swap them out and see how it works.

check your connections, and if not that, could your psu be unreliable?

have you connected the power cable to the vid card also could be overheating check cpu and vid card temps what power is your psu?
