Driver stopped working but has recovered

sometimes i get the driver stopped working error while gaming and it usually quits my game. i have an 8800Gt though, so i think it is my cpu. would a new cpu fix this problem?

also, can you have it not quit the game when that happens? so that you just keep on playing when it recovers.
 
well 650w is the min spec so you might benefit from upgrading it, and a cpu upgrade would stop the bottleneck so id say do both, but, id also download install the latest drivers for your card from nvidia first and see how you go
 
should I get beta drivers? i am using the latest stable ones.

and no, I think my PSU is plenty. no point upgrading that.

but yeah, my question is: could my CPU be causing the graphics driver to fail? i would assume the answer is yes, but want to make sure.
