drivers for external optical drive

greetings,
some years a go, i aquired an external and self contained cd-rom drive (links below) with the drivers for win98se. this has it own self contained power supply. i have connected the device to the printer port and have rebooted winxp pro and the computer does not see the device. further research shows that the device is no longer manufactured.

any ideas as to if/where/how i could possibly try/obtain a generic driver or similar to get this thing back on it's feet again?...thanks.

*****it was NEVER my intention to "double post"...i believed that i made a post in the wrong section and so, reposted the question in what i believe was the correct forum in an effort to correct the mistake.
the links worked last time i checked! i just checked the links below and they indeed DO work....

....now, i cannot find that particular post i believe i made in the cd/dvd section so, it appears that it "MYSTERIOUSLY" disappeared.
