I bought a used desktop (Nexar). When I try to boot up the 3.5" drive is the only one that is being located, I get the message 'computer won't boot, insert system disk...". It has a removeable harddrive, and when I got it the cable at the back of the drive was unhooked. I've tried hooking up each of the loose cables with the same connector to the drive and restarting, but the computer isn't reconizing this drive (or the CD drive) The power to each of the drives is hooked up and they are 'on'. Any suggestions?

Tell me exactly how you have it all plugged in, inside your computer.

Motherboard IDE> Hard drive > CDrom?
FDC> 3.5"?

Details, lol.

I'm computer illiterate, but inside the computer there is the motherboard?, with several ribbonlike cable coming off of it going to the drives. One goes to the 3.5" drive, another to the CD drive(which the computer actually does recognize, and I am able to use) the third was unhooked, and had too 'plugs' - one in the middle, and one at the end. I'v hooked up the harddrive to each of these, with no luck.

I tried to boot from my Windows CD, and it went through the process of loading alot of files (drivers, etc), but stalled at the screen saying it was loading windows. It just stayed on that screen and never moved past it. There didn't appear to be any activity at the CD drive at that point.
