drop in amd x2 processors?

i'm planning on building a new computer sometime soon, i'll have the money for it by like mid july and of course with most people, i can't wait to get it. I heard somewhere though that prices on the x2's are gonna drop around the end of july. is this just a false rumor or is it really gonna happen? any info you guys have would be sweet.

Yes the prices are supposed to drop at the end of July because Conroe is coming out and AMD wants to lower its prices so it can compete with Intel. I would wait to get any processor tell after July and i would get Conroe instead of AMD cause Conroe is better.

You can buy a complete system in a retail store for what they are still asking for the X2 model cpus. Where you may see a vendors drop a few bucks here or there in order to compete with each other the prices are destined to stay up there probably until later in the year for holiday specials and into 2007. I was hoping to see a good drop in the Opteron line of dual cored cpus for the next build. But I may have to go with an AMD64 3500+ single core for a fast replacement in order to have a spare case onhand when building the next.
