dropping connections, Buffalo Router

I just installed a new Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 wireless router. My main desktop is a wired connection. One laptop is wired as well. I am getting periodic dropped connections on both machines. Symptoms are, AIM autorecoonnects and VPN drops off on my laptop.

Anyone had any similar issues. Connection is standard DSL. Setup was flawless and when it is connected it works quite well -- faster than my old linksys.

thanks

Are you running the default firmware? May I suggest trying DD-WRT? I have basically the same router(without the amp) and it's worked flawlessly for me. I honestly never even tried to use the standard firmware, just went straight to DD-WRT. It's not a difficult upgrade, and is well worth the added features and stability.

Do all systems drop connection ?

what device is making the DSL connection the modem or the router ?

first you need to look at the setup of your modem and make sure
it is set for " Bridged ethernet "

next check the setting in your router and make sure it is set for
"PPPOE" and hs the user name and pw entered
