Hello all,

im getting annoyed with windows now....all the damn errors, slow downs, missing files its just doing my head in :D

so i think im going to dual boot Xp pro with Ubuntu 7:10 Gutsy gibbon.

so i can boot into Xp so i can still play games but use linux for everything else.

my question is....how do i go about dual booting xp & linux?

i heard you have to install xp first but thats already installed.

also,I had ALOT of problems getting my soundcard to work in Xp and the only fix i know of it this tool that was made for windows soi doubt my soundcard wpuld work under linux:eek:

damn it doesnt matter what i do my pc is crap lol.

thanks for replying people.

hey to dual boot xp and ubuntu your gonna have to make two partitions on one harddrive or install on two different harddrives. when you install ubuntu you will have an option to choose xp or ubuntu when you power on your computer

hello,

ive dual booted windows before but never linux with windows so is it just as easy then?

Yes. Simply repartition the HDD to your liking (see below) and then install Ubuntu.

You can have any number of partitions for Ubuntu, but need at the very least 2; one is your Swap space and the other is your /Root. If you plan on sharing files between the two, just keep your XP partition as-is, otherwise, make a /Home partition.
