Dual Boot

Hello guys! Okay, I have a Lenovo laptop, and it came with original W7 64 bit. It's on my C drive (has around 600GB total), and I also have a D drive called Lenovo, which is almost fully filled (probably 3 out of 28GB left) in which I can only see around 2GB of files. Maybe the backup's there, or something.

I want to install BackTrack Linux, and I'm not exactly sure how & where. I'm not really a noob, but I want to be safe that I won't format my hard disk or something. I first put it into vmware player, but that disabled more or less everything I wanted (couldn't connect to wireless adapter because it isn't connected through USB), so I guess I should dual boot it. I can't use the D disk, right?

So, basically I burn the .iso to a disk and boot into it. Then I enter the installation (which is 7 step I believe), and I'm supposed to get to this:

So, if I somehow don't get the exact same window, I should consult you guys? I assume the first option (selected in the screen) is perfectly safe, and should be used?

Cheers!

EDIT: Also, will dual boot hinder my performance? Thanks!

Dual boot will not hinder performance.

Next thing, Are you needing tools that are in backtrack, or do you just want a linux distro? Because of the hacking tools, we can not aid you with backtrack, but if you go to a different distro, we will be glad to help you.

Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that BackTrack is forbidden here (even though it's obvious, I guess). Well, I won't lie and say I don't need its tools, so this thread can be closed. I'll figure something out. Cheers!
