ok so im finally going through with my dual booting now that i have time, i want to dual boot XP and 7, what size do you all recommend for the partitions, im also planning on making a 3rd partition for data. So what size do we recommend for the 3 partitions?

Well, you didn't mention your HDD size overall, but lets take 500 GB hdd, I'd recommend 75 GB partition for XP, 120 GB partition for Win 7 and other to the third partition for files.

And Remember, When duel booting 2 different OS's, the xp has to be loaded first. Then Windows 7. And I would go with a 20gb partition on xp, just for upgraded windows files.

sorry about that guys i forgot to mention my harddrive size, it is 250 GB, so what would we recommend with that?

What programs are you going to use? Is this 32 or 64-bit? Microsoft recommends a minimum of 20GB for Windows 7 64-bit and 1.5GB for Windows XP 32-bit.

I would do:
XP: 15GB
7: 30GB
Data partition: 190GB
Remaining 15ishGB: Wherever those extra hard drive gigs disappear to.

This gives room for a few programs and any future service packs. You could even drop down the XP size a bit if you wanted.
