i found a ASUS P5LD2/C motherboard that has 4 ram slot which support dual ddr...so would 512mb x 4 = 1g x 2 in terms of performance in general

thx thx

if i use kingston ddr2 667 512mb x 2 to run dual channel now....later i buy another cosair ddr2 667 1g x 2 for upgrade.....will it work???? or i have to use the same model (i.e. kingston ddr2 667 512mb ram)

thx

sorry for bringing up this old post...because i think it is no point to post a new one :P

Yes, it should work fine. Dual channel only runs through 2 sticks of RAM at a time, so all you have to do is make sure that the RAM sticks of the same brand are in their corresponding dual channel spots. Often, the RAM slots in a mobo are color coordinated, so you just put the RAM of the same brand in the same color. If not, it will either be the first and the second slot grouped together, or the first and the third. The only other compatibility issues you have to worry about is just making sure both RAM models will work with your mobo.
