Ok I'm about to perchase some new RAM for my laptop and I was looking on Newegg.com for the best one. I found a 2 gig dual channel kit for 185.99...I was wondering if I can just buy two of the same 1gb sticks and put them in and still have dual channel. I'm asking becuase two 1gb sticks plus installation is $186 and a dual channel kit plus installation is $215. I just wanna save some green lol. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work...any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It shouldn't be a problem. I've got dual Kingston's KVR's in mine. As long as they're the same, you'd be good. Your laptop does support dual channel though, right?

there's nothing special about dual channel other than the motherboard, you can even have sticks from different companies as long as they are the same size

That is true, it's not a significant boost with dual channel, but for some people, every little bit counts. :P

lol I just want the most for my money. Once I get 2gb ram I will never have to upgrade that part again...now this GeForce 6400.....lol
