dual channel issue

Hey,
we'll call this a mobo issue. why not right?

Here's the deal, i have the corsair Dual channel kit. 2x512ddr.

Now i bought a new board, vnf4/ultra, and updated the bios because i noticed my ram was running in single channel mode. Dug through the bios, didn't find a single/double option. i have the ram in slots 1 and 3, isn't that the way to do it? or have things changed? please let me know.

thanks guys.

Does your motherboard in fact support Dual Channel? As you say, I haven't seen any bios settings that address dual channel. It's a function of the motherboard. If you're in dual channel, it will tell you in the POST. Your board may not support it and yes, every dual channel board I've seen, with two sticks of mem, takes it in slots 1 and 3.

this just in. my board needs them to be next to each other. weird i know. shut it down and then booted with one. shut it back down, then for giggles put the ram in 1 and 2. poof dual channel.

I was about to suggest doing that, because my board runs dual channel in Slots 1 and 2, not the same coloured ones.
