Dual channel questions and whatnot

Hey all,
First off, i have a 3500+ on a chaintech vnf4 ultra mobo running 2x512 of ddr ram. My question is for my birthday im planning on getting another gig of ram, but i realized im stupid and when i built my computer i should have bought dual channel memory,(as my mobo can handle dual channel) but alas i did not. So would it be worth it to trash the month old memory and replace it with 2 gigs of dual channel, or can i just by another gig of ddr ram. I heard from many people 2 gig helps load times and whatnot for bf2, which i would really like. I dont really have the money to replace all my ram but if you all think it would make a signifigant difference over 2 gigs of regular ram, well see....

Well to use dual channel you need multiples of two sticks or RAM ... so either 2 sticks or 4 sticks will allow you to use dual channel
 
So your saying i have dual channel memory because im using 2 sticks of 512 ram? OR am i totally off? Like on tiger direct there is a ddr memory section and a dual channel section and i bought 2x512 ddr, and im debating buyin another gig stick or 2x512 ddr, but um yeah i dotn really kno, my first post explains it better
 
If it is dual channel supported. I would suggest just getting another gig of RAM, and keep the old stuff. Dual Channel doesn't make that much of a difference. (Long as its DDR400)
 
so would it be okay to have two more sticks of 512 ram for my specific mobo, i read somewhere this cheapo mobo wont support ddr400 ram on all 4 slots...Also, entirely different subject, on bootup it says my ram is ddr33 when both stick are in, but ddr400 when one stick is in, Im sure its ddr400 on both, and they r same type and everything...What gives?

i have a question about dual channel memory. If I were to buy 2 x 512 sticks that both ran at the same speed, but my motherboard did not support dual channel memory, would the memory sticks not work, or would they just not run in dual channel mode?
 
In my oppinion 2 gigs of ram is excessive. 1 gig is enough, unless you do video or image editing.
 
I read online that 2 gigs for BF2 really is not excessive and it would help with load times and whatnot with the game, which seem to be a little bit longer than i would like...Bassically i have a 100 bucks to spend for my birthday and i was thinking this would be a good way to blow it, but maybe not?
