Dual Channel

My mb supports up to 8 gig of ramand duel channel compatable. currently i have 512 x 2 and i was wondering if it would be better to put the ram into duel channel mode or to leave it in standard?? Also im looking to upgrade my ram anyways and was wondering what was the difference between DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) and DDR2 667 (PC2 5400)??

Dual Channel increases performance, but sometimes at the risk of reliability. Try it out, the difference will probably not be noticable unless you are benching or recording FPS or something specific. I would always opt to run in DualChannel, unless I knew the motherboard had compatibility issues, or your RAM had compatibility issues.
