dual core based question

ok heres my question...
its known that most games arent optimized for dual core yet.
the thing im wondering though, is why, when i open unreal tournament 2004, does the task manager say it uses 10 threads? wouldnt this be optimized for dual core then? just wondering... my processors fast enough for it even if its not optimized for dual core though :)

In that case, my knowledge is better than your knowledge. Games have been and will continue to be optimized for dualcore

Having threads and being optimized for load balancing across cores are two different things.

@Beyond: that's why we have private messages :)

i was under the understanding that even if you have a dual core computer, most/all game will only utilize one of them??

Dude that makes no sense: if a game is made to benifit from multicore, and it's running in a multicore environment then why on earth would the game (in default state) run as if it wasnt in a multicore environment??
