Dual core OC problems.

I already brought this subject up in other posts.. however, i still dont know why i cant seem to overclock it.
wich my current setup, except the processor beeing a 3000+ 'Venice', i reached 300MHz bus speed, getting my processor up to 2,7GHz.
that wasnt really a bad overclock, since the original speed was 1.8GHz.

however, now that im running a 4800+ X2,.. i cant get my fsb past 220MHz anymore. even if i put the multiplier to 4x, the ram to 240MHz (using the divider) and loosening the timings quite a bit. the bus speed of my motherboard just doesnt want to go higher.
if i put it higher, the screen stays black a bit longer as it would with a working setting's restart,.. and voilla, the bios resetted.
anyone has any idea's for what i could try?

worst case scenario, ill have to buy a new motherboard.. but then it would be a SLI board with 2 pci-16x slots,.. then i dont think it would bottleneck dx10 cards. but then, im not really fanct about buying something new just yet,.. since it is working propperly... it just doesnt want to overclock.

I dont know if this threat should have been possted in the CPU/overclocking secion perhaps? anyway, i think the motherboard has problems getting a Dual Core up to higher speeds.. is that possible? ( not just a yes or no answer please )
I know my system isn't the best around, but it can handle games so far.. however, id like to push it, just to see what it can do.. so really, any help would be appriciated.

Perhaps you have one core that is significantly weaker then the other and can't handle an overclock.

I don't know: Are you able to shut down a core in the Bios? Can you set it to run 0 core or 1 core seperately? If so, you could perhaps try to OC them seperately, then together. Dunno if you are able to do that though.

well... like i said, I putted the multiplier to the lowest settings, so the CPU was underclocked Big-time. I lowered the frequenties of everything, and then upped the bus speed, so in fact everything was running slower than normal, except the bus speed of the mothrboard.
anyone has any idea's?

or has anyone ever read something about boards overclocking capabillities beeing limited because of a X2?
When my board was released,.. it didnt support Dual Core CPU's... i had to flash it in order to make it work.. could that be the problem?

edit:
well... assuming its my motherboard... im thinking of getting a newer one for it. i was thinking about
ASRock 939SLI32 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813157087
( that is... Abit, not Asrock was Asus's el-cheapo, line, right? :P )
I just dont know if its a god overclocker yet... havnt found many review's yet

edit 2:
Or maybe this one.
Asus A8N32-SLI
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131568
but neither of that one i could find if its a good overclocker or not... and it would cost me almost twice as much. besides.. i wont be using the onboard sound anyway.. but the chipset cooling seems a lot better tough.

Well... i heard the Uli chips were rather good.. ther run a lot cooler than the nvidia ones. but i gues the Asrock isnt an option then?
