Dual-core specifics

Okay, I understand that dual-core is basically SMP on one chip. I also have an idea of the specifics of how it differs from true SMP.

Pentium D/ Pentium EE:
2x SMP Prescotts on one chip, with shared FSB. No inter-core communication whatsoever.

Athlon X2/Opteron X2:
2x Athlon 64/Opterons on one chip, with a shared memory controller and one HyperTransport link reserved for inter-core communications.

Am I even near right on this?
