Dual Hard Drive Setup Recommendations?

This is my first post here and I haven't had time to thoroughly search the forum yet. Sorry if my question has been asked before:

I have a new Quad Core Q6600 gaming computer on order, but it comes with 500gb (2x250) setup as RAID-0. I plan to delete the RAID and reload Windows Vista Ultimate and just have them be 2 separate 250gb drives because of the potential risk of complete data loss.

I was wondering what the best recommendations are for how I should use the 2 separate drives for best performance considering locations of the OS, Applications, and Data? I'm using this new PC for more than just games.

Also, I am actually going to keep an extra copy of the data as backup on the other drive as I do now with my old computer in case one drive dies. I will also be using Vista Ultimate complete PC disk image backup as well. But should I load all programs on drive C: with the OS or away from it on the D: drive? Should the data files be used on a drive opposite than the one loading the programs?

Thanks,

Steve

load all the programs and Apps on C:, this will avoid confusion later one. use your second drive for data and backup. if you dont want ot use RAID-0 (and i dont blame you) then that would be my recommendation

Drive 1:
Store programs and other software that you can easily re-install using a CD installer.

Drive 2:
Store your documents as well as other things that cannot be reinstalled using a CD installer, change your temp file folder location to this drive. You can also put your backups here.
