Dual LAN not working

I have a DFI 790GX motherboard and a Rosewill RC-402 networking card.

my setup is as follows.

I live in fraternity house and we have a router and switch setup in a closet. We have 2 ports for each room, I have a cable from one of the ports directly to my Rosewill card, and the other port is connect to my router (which is setup as a wireless access point with 4 port switch via DD-WRT), from this switch i have a cable going to my motherboard port. I also have a cable from the switch to my PS3. The switch allows me to have my PS3 hooked up to our main network and see everyone media servers. Well when I reset our house router and switches it disconnects my PS3 from my own server (on my computer). I have the dual LAN ports so that even if the house network is down I can still have my server up in my room.

Why isn't this working in the way that it should. It seems that it makes the Rosewill port the main port and if that is disconnected or unplugged I lose all network, even that I have another port that is hooked up to the internet through my switch to the second wall port.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Need some help on this please.
