Dual Monitor Issues

Hey Everyone,

I have a dual monitor setup, one with an Acer 19" and one with a 15.4" laptop display. I cannot choose the check box to make the Acer my primary monitor in windows Vista.

Please help! I usually could figure this out but I can't this time...

Windows is a pain when it comes to customizing graphics.

If its an Nvidia or ATI gpu then you should be able to click advanced on the settings tab in windows where you configure monitors. From there it will open up a second graphics only control panel and you can configure it. Not so sure if ATI does it like this, you may need to download the ATI try tool thing for it, but Nvidia works this way.

Im going to assume you have an intel or the like gpu though. Where there is no advanced option. Try this program called UltraMon. Not only will it 90% chance fix your problems I find the "second task bar" and other perks so very very useful :D!

This is weird. One thing I will give Vista credit for is how well it works with dual monitors. For my laptop, it automatically detects it when I plug another monitor in and gives me the option to use clone or dual view...

As someone said, confirm 100% you have your drivers loaded. Not just Microsoft drivers, but the manufacturer's drivers. Also look on your keyboard. Sometimes there are mode buttons (function F4 for me) that will change the view mode.
