Dual monitor, same display?

As the title says, I want to have dual monitors, but have both have the same display. The reason for this is I have a 32" HDTV, compared to my 14" laptop screen. I know I can drag windows over to the other screen, but certain windows, when maximized, do not stay and the TV and revert back to my laptop screen. I use a VGA cable. The weirdest thing is when I first hooked up the VGA cable both monitors showed the same thing. I tried fixing the resolution of my TV, but somehow messed it up and now my desktop is extended to the TV. I try unclicking this option, but when I do, nothing is displayed at all on my TV. Any advice? If it helps, I'm running Vista 64, and my GPU is ATI Radeon X 1250. Thanks.

You are trying to have dual Monitors with from a laptop? With different display on each monitor?

I'm not sure that is possible. Laptops have onboard Graphics cards - and I've not seen one with 2 video outputs.

As stated, when I untick "Extend desktop to this monitor", nothing is shown on the TV at all. And yes, it is possible. I have a VGA hookup on my laptop, and I know many new laptops even have HDMI. Right now my TV acts as a separate monitor where I can drag windows to, but I want the same display on both.
