Dual monitor setup

I am trying to help my brother setup his computer to use dual monitors. He just got a new video card; it is an nvidia quadro fx 1800. It has a dvi-i and two DisplayPort connections. One monitor has a VGA and HDMI connection. The second monitor has a VGA and DVI connection. The primary monitor is connected by using the VGA connection on the monitor and the DVI-I connection on the video card. The secondary monitor is connected by using the DVI connection on the monitor and uses a DVI-D to DisplayPort adapter to connect to one of the DisplayPort connections on the video card. We cannot get the secondary monitor to receive a signal. I have never worked with a DisplayPort connection so I am unsure if anything special needs to be done (i.e. - certain drivers installed or a configuration change). Any help is greatly appreciated.

im using a proggy called ultramon for dual and triple monitors. might want to give that a try. i just found the software easier to use than figure it out. has lots of options for dual wallpaper, single or and 2nd taskbar.

You can upgrade your video card driver at the mfr's site. After that - you can adjust your monitor setup in the Display category of Windows - or my card has a category for Invidia ( from the graphics card ) where I can fine tune adjustments to the monitor setup ( like centering the display ).

I've only set up one dual monitor display and it was pretty much plug and play when I set mine up though. You just had to choose which monitor was primary display - and which was secondary. Windows 7 did the rest.
