Dual monitors on my desktop computer

Hey everyone i need a little help.
Im trying to run 2 monitors off of my Desktop. I have a radeon 5870 which has a 2 dvi ports and a hdmi port.

I have 2 monitors which are both vga so i bought 2 adpaters dvi-vga. I plugged both monitors into the computer using both ports on the video card and i only got picture on one.

when i go into screen resoultion it shows both monitors are detected my 17 inch and my 24 inch but my 17 inch still says check signal cable....
any ideas?

You have to go into the ati control panel and select extend desktop or something similar.

Right click on the desktop and click on screen resolution. You'll see the two monitors there, one will be blue and the other greyed out. Click on the grey one, and then the bottom drop down menu select ''extend these displays''.

Done.
