Dual Monitors Questions

I'm looking to set up two monitors to my gaming rig. I've got a widescreen 24' LCD monitor hooked up to my video card through HDMI. I want to hook up a second monitor...a puny 18' 4:3 monitor since that can give me enough space to do what I need on the big monitor and have the tinier monitor do its thing as well.

I'm not sure if you can hook up monitors like these two together? One being 4:3 and another being 16:9.

Secondly, I'm not sure if they both need to be hooked to the video card through the HDMI port. Since one only has VGA but my video card only has HDMI and DVI.

If it's still possible to hook these two monitors up...would buying a VGA to DVI adapter work? No weird shenanigans would take place?

The two monitors can be different aspect ratios (4:3 and 16:9) and can be different resolutions.

Additionally they can be connected differently, one HDMI and one DVI->VGA adapter. It should work no problems.

:)

What kind of adapter would I need to get my monitor hooked up to this since I see two possible DVI slots that aren't identical...I'm confused.
