I am thinking of running windows xp and the linux mandarke edition on the same computer and harddrive. How do I do it do I just partition the drive and install linux in the second partition. Or is it more complicating then that. Please help me out

now how would I choose which one to boo off also I have a spare hard drive would it be better to throw that in and run the linux on its on drive

the main thing that is confusing me is when I boot up the computer how do I choose which operating system I want to run

whichever is better for you. if you use another drive you must change the main boot drive when you want to use the other os

seperate drives are best otherwise youll have long loading times but if i was you i would partition one drive and have the other hd as a backup to save important information

so it would be better to run both on the same drive because I can always use my portable hard drive for back up

I suggest installing windows fisrt then installing linux, if you do this linux will install a boot manager which will give you the select option list on boot time, most of the time windows will not do this and you will have to jmanually do it. I find it easier to install linux second and have it to it for you during installation.
