I just bought myself a copy of Vista Home Premium and I was wondering if there is a way I can have to OS in one hard drive, maybe in seperate partions, is there anyway and is it safe, or can it damage my hardware?BTW I have XP pro now

Yes it's possible, but you will need software to create another partition without messing up your current one.

Once you get multiple partitions set up, you can install an OS on each partition, and it will ask you which one you would like to boot from. Vista would be the default.

why not use a virtual machine ? you can make the virtual machine use your physical disk too instead of messing around with the boot loader to dual boot

Because if you want to actually run games and programs with full functionality, you cant have it be a VM.
