I was at my friends house and he has a monitor connected to his pc. He can scroll from screen to screen. I connected another monitor to my laptop and i see duplicate to what is on my laptop screen. I read around to see if i could do that on my laptop. Iv come to the conclusion that i need to have a pc in order to do it. I dont know much about computers. I was hoping maybe you guys know a way for me to osmehow be able to do it?

It depends on your laptop. Many do offer clone(what you have) and extended desktop modes. Just search your settings.

What video card do you have?

Right click on your desktop>>Properties>>Advanced. See if you can enable the second monitor there. There is an option that says "Extend my desktop to this monitor">

I also have a old old Compaq Presario 1200

right click desktop, properties, settings, then there should be a little check at the bottom of the screen saying, "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" click that and you should be good to go

TIP: you should see 2 monitors in settings, you may need to click the second one.

this is all i see

That would be awesome if i could do it for free.
do you guys know anything about maxivist.com/ ? someone told me i could use that

That's normal. Some computers are different, have you looked around in the advanced section?
Maxivista works great, I am using it now.

No, you have to have another computer connected to your network with a monitor. Well actually, I guess it would, but you would need another computer hooked up to your network :P

Oh okay, Damn im frustrated. i thought this was going to be a peice of cake ^__^ I looked through advanced i couldnt find anything. so theres pretty much no way for me to do this for free?

Okay so i downloaded maxivista and now i have the choice of monitors and extending my windows but its not working

You have to install both versions of maxivista on both computers according to your monitor setup. Both computers also have to be hooked up to the same network under the same WORKSPACE.
