Dual SLI question

Is it possible to use both the 6600GT 128MB and a 6800GT on a SLI motherboard? or is it not compatible?

what mobo do you have?

the mobo doesn't matter, you can use them but you cannot SLI them. SLI needs 2 identicle cards (same chip, same manufacturer, etc)

alright thanks. I also have another question but it reguards to ram for my vid card. I have a XFX PVT43GNDF3 Geforce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 PCI-Express x16 Video Card(http://www.chiefvalue.com/app/productdetails.asp?submit=manufactory&item=14-150-098) The memory type says GDDR3 does that mean I need to use DDR3 ram? or is DDR 400 ok? Im using a GA-K8N Ultra-SLI mobo(http://www.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Products/Products_GA-K8N Ultra-SLI.htm)

DDR 400 is the ram you should use. Video ram and system ram are 2 completly difference things and are unrealated.

to make sure that it will work ya, but all u rly need is the same core(ex:2x6600gt,2x6800ultra)

so... let me get this straight... to SLI 2 vid cards, they must both have the same chip (both 6600gt, or both 6600ultra), and the same manufacturer...

what about memory? can you have a 128Mb and 256Mb card together?

It seems you might be able to use different manufacturers but I don't know of anyone trying it, there are a lot of different things manufacturers do while keeping with the reference design that could cause conflicts.
