What is the dumbest thing you have ever done while working on a pc? I havent been working on pc's that much, but when I was installing my x700 I was putting the plug in the wall and I had my thumb on the metal and I got shocked. Oh yeah, when I got my tv tuner I was wondering why it wouldnt work.... (pci) It wasnt all the way in. lol

hmm, where to start :P
forgetting to turn a pc off at the mains whilst working on it
wondering why i couldn't get windows to install onto a SATA drive, the damm drivers
<a long long time ago>Thinking that i could backup my pc onto a single floppy by creating shortcuts to everything
bending a USB wifi dongle and then wondering why it wouldn't connect
spending about a day to try to get a dead HDD working, by the end of it i just rubbed it up and down a carpet for a few mins to make sure it certainly was dead of static
taking my laptop apart, and not having any instructions to put it back together
put 2 cd's in a cd drive and heard the beautiful screech
letting my dad get within a 6 foot radius of a pc with its side removed, a recipe for disaster

Lee :D

I've done my fair share of dumb things. The one that stands out the most, though... I was working with an old AT power supply(for those young un's here, that's the old style that has two different connectors) For some reason, I crossed the wires and basically plugged positive into the ground. Nothing happened. I realized what I did and switched the wires. When I flipped the switch this time, I was showered with sparks from the motherboard!
