I have just installed my first wireless router to establish a network computer in my workshop. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to computers. My son usually helps me but he isn't hear now. I need to know what I can do to get my network computer (in the workshop) to be able to share the files on my home computer in the house. I would like to use my Photobucket and Media Player out here, as well as use other files occasionally. If this is possible could someone walk me through the steps to accomplish this task?

Please tell us how your network is setup first of all. Do you have a wireless adapter in your computer in the workshop or how is it hooked up to the main router?

How much distance is between the router and your computer? The usb adapters don't work very well if its long distance and lots of walls inbetween. But after everything is setup then all you do is run the small office and network setup wizard and make sure you have it set to share files and printers.

It's about 75 feet between the router and my adapter out here in the shop. I can sit here and see the router on top of the computer desk inside my home through the double windows. The only thing between the router and the adapter is a double pain of glass (storm windows) and one 4" wall on the front of my little building. After changing the router to channel 6 I haven't lost the signal at all today. It has varied in strength from Very Low to Very Good. I'll try running the wizard. Thanks.
