Dust control...

Can anyone tell me a good way to keep dust out of all the hard to clean places in my comp? My apartment is rather old and i bought it with its two inches of daily dust. Now I use about 1 can of compressed air weekly just to keep the fans working at the norm. operating speeds. Its a bit frustrating because I know that there is dust collecting in my new power supply, but I dont want to open it because its still on a 36month warranty! grr grr grr dust is so stupid ;D

You can buy filters to fit to all external fans, which should cut down the amount of dust built up - but of course they need cleaning every once in a while, and it's not fool-proof.

An indirect solution may be to buy an ozone air purifier. I've seen Thane Direct advertise them (what I was watching their teleshopping channel in one of my weaker moments :P) - they cause ions and ozone to be released - the ions making dust too heavy to stay in suspension, and the ozone to remove bad smells. I bought one, and it worked very well, but I had to send it back cos it was faulty.

As Magicman said, you can fit filters however this will also reduce the airflow and may give you heat problems but this can easily be fixed by fitting an aditional fan. Also, when you put filters on, make sure that all fans on your case are blowing air INTO the case, that way you wont suck as much dust in through all the little opennings in the case.

Regarding the "Ozone Air Purifier" these are also called "Negative Ion Generators" you can buy these at some electronics shops as compleate units or Kits. I don't know of any stores in Canada or Poland that sell them but in Australia you can get them at Jaycar... heres a link to one and also a short description of them http://www1.jaycar.com.au/productVi...d2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=
