I bought an air filter for my Dell, i goes on the front over the intake. I just changed it for the first time, it came with a program that reminded me. lots of dust on the filter! So i just stoped all that dust from entering my new Dell! Maybe it will some of you folks too.

My new system came with one in the case. It really does filter out a good bit of dust! Only think I don't like is how I'm sure it restricts the air flow unless you clean it rather constantly...

only my old HP case has choke dust, the case that i build on didnt really collect any dust inside rather on the exterior like the top that are easily wiped off. It helps puting the computer off the carpet.

Dust can cause your system to overheat. An older system of mine was clogged with dust, 1.2 Duron idleing at 50c. After I cleaned it all out (I literally put it under the hose and left it to dry for 2 weeks), it's now idleing at about 30c. Dust can make a huge difference. It can also kill your fans. Over time they will spin slower and work less efficiently, and eventually stop working alltogether because of dust.
It's a good idea to keep dust out of your system.

does dust actually do anything to your system?
Dust is an insulator if it settles say on a heatsink or a capacitor. If it settles on fan bearings it can slowly choke them out

Yes, air in a can.
