My computer is 3 years old and when I first got it to mainly to burn DVD's I was using DVD+R 4X and used DVD shrink and also havd Nero StartSmart. My burned DVD's played great and recently I started using DVD+R 16X and 8X and when I watched them on my DVD player the picture became choppy and had to go and reburn them at 4X on Nero. Should I go back to using 4X DVD blank media?

What speed is your burner? Even at 16x I would still burn at 4x. It's only a few minutes and you won't end up with coasters.
I don't mean to sound dumb, but not to sharp with this stuff. How do you check the speed of the burner. I am going to get some 4X discs and see what happens

Most programs will tell you somewhere what speed your burner is. If you try to burn a disk without media inserted using Deepburner, it'll at least show the speeds supported for CD burning. I'm sure elsewhere you could view the supported speed.
