DVD burner install problem, PLEASE HELP!

I installed a Sony DRU-530A DVD burner in my computer (Compaq presario, XP home ed.) and when it booted it didn't do anything (I had to go to boot menu and say boot from hard drive) any time I restart my computer I have to do the boot menu thing.. Now that I'm up and running it doesn't show the Sony DVD burner or my original CD (CDRW/DVD reader combo) drive in My Computer... So now it doesn't recognize either of them.

Did I do something wrong? What can I do to fix it???

Yeah, I"m a retard... lol... I was hoping I could edit the post before anyone figured it out...

I have both drives set as coble selection or somethign like that, not slave though, seems to work ok... anyone think I should do something different? I just know this is the setting that the orig CD drive was on...?
