dvd burner not working

Hey guys, i got a dvd burner and it wont burn! when i open windows media player, it stops responding! when i take the disk out, it works fine! so i cant burn with that! I also have ImgBurn but the same thing happens! the lightscribe works, and i see that the computer does detect the drive in Computer. Whats up?? any help would be great!

I figured out the problem. First, i was using cd-r's instead of dvd's and 2- I just needed to wait a little longer for the program to not end or stop responding.

well i'm still having problems guys! Here's the drive i bought!

However o try to burn, it never works! windows media player brings up this error which is attached. I have tried 2 different DVD-R disks!

dvd's has it's own speed too.. try to make the burning more slower.. or maybe the dvd-r you used is already full..

How can i change the write speed? and the dvd is not full. They are brand new.

I have alcohol 120 on my pc, i checked it out and could not figure out how to use it. Can someone explain how to burn a movie to a dvd-r??

Bump! still cant burn movies to dvd's They're brand new Memorex dvd-r's
Any ideas? could this be a vista issue? Im going back to XP soon.
