hey guys, i need some advice and figured id ask here, i use Nero 6 ultra edition and when i copy dvd disc it used to take about 15 minutes now it can take anywhere from 30mins - 1 hour to copy one disc. what couldve caused this and what can i do to make it run faster again. thanks alot.

when you copy a disc, it need to create an image onto the hard drive then burn the image which would take longer than 15 minutes. another thing, do you have 2 dvd drives? if so, use the copy on the fly feature. whilst the dvd is copying it is being burnt simaltaneously. if not, try reinstalling nero and flashing latest firmware. oh and what speed is your burner

You should include PC specs when you ask for assistance.

hey again, the burner is only a 8x's dvd+r i have a 200 gb HD and a gig of ram well u no the deal with that only really like 896 mbs of ram...any way i was thinking of reinstalling nero im gonna do that now cause just now as im copying a disc it just stopped in the middle of the process it just ejected the dvd and said burn process failed...i dunno whats wrong with my comp, now its slowing the processor speed down as well. ill try reinstalling it and let you guys know what happened.

Well aside from DVD copying speed have you noticed whether your computer is performing poorly in other areas as well?

Also have you tried other types of software to see if there was any improvement? For backing up my DVD movies I like to use DVD Shrink 3.2, It works really well and at a decent speed.

thats what i use as well sometimes but now its slower than before, the comp also has become slower while runnine either nero or shrink...i re installed nero and now i think it is taking even longer than before to copy a disk im up to about an hour just to copy one disc...how would i uninstall my dvdrw i heard sometimes if i do that then reboot the comp it detects it automatically and reinstalls it itself. what else could i do to make it go faster im slumped.

Alright well just another question :). How is this DVD ROM hooked up? internal? or USB?

I figure it's prob. running slow because the computer is in need of maintenance such as spy ware clean up, the deletion of unneeded files etc. Most times computers only slow down due to the software that are on them and rarely because of the hardware.

Unless you have then I'd suggest doing some routine maintenance such as spy ware removal and hard drive defrags etc. Remove anything that you don't use or need.

If your interested in making your OS run faster then I would also suggest that you google search for Known Windows tweaks like disabling certain services etc. You'd be surprised how much speed is to be gained by making certain changes within the OS.

yea i did a defrag cleanup 2 times actually and a dick cleanup but still its so slow...the dvd burner is internal, what could i use to do a spyware cleanup, ADWARE? this is really making me upset how slow its gotten.

hmmmmmmm, Your sure it's set up in your burner software settings to burn at the highest speed?

Adware is OK to use, I use Adware along with Webroot. You'd be surprised how slow spyware can slow down a system.

Do you have plently hard drive space free? your computer will slow down some when It gets low on HD space. If you run weekly maintenance then your computer should run as fast as it was meant to be at all times. I've seen so many computers literaly running 50% simply because the owner neglected it.

yea i have a 200 gb HD that is really 186 around that, i have more then 3/4's of free space left on it...im gonna run some more tests, i have SPY SUBTRACT it comes with the comp i ran it and it found over 500 files of cookies and more hijack attempts and bullshit so i got rid of them...by the way thakns for helping out with this sit, i appriciate it.
