DVD burner, SATA or IDE?

My 6 years old pc DVD drive is not working. I need to order an internal DVD burner. Which type is better, SATA or IDE?

At this time I would get SATA. But make sure your board has SATA ports.

If your system is self or prebuilt look in the manual first if you have one, if not remove the side of the case and see if the dvd drive had ide ribbon cable or a sata cable coming from it,at the same time see if there are any sata connections on your m/b
