Hi everyone,

I have a DVD-R-RW PX-708A with firmware 1.10 installed. When I want to burn a data DVD (with nero's latest version) it takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. The plextor driver has five or six blinks of amber color followed by a moment of green color (ammmmmmmmmber, green, ammmmmmmmber, green, etc…) My raw DVD is a RiDATA 8x DVD+R 4.7 GB for Data and Video my system is windows xp with 2.6 Ghz and 512 mb mermory. I can include the log from nero if it is of any help.

Thanks in advance for your help.

8X isnt exacly REALLY FAST it may take a long time to burn it at this speed
at 8x you should burn a 2 hours dvd film in 15mins. Data burnind should be about the same

Helloman: Does the dvd burn correctly in the end?
If so - are you allowing nero to run a test burn first, or are you allowing it to validate the dvd after burning?

yeah...with 8X it should take around 15 minutes for a full DVD.

The DVD turns out fine. Just how long it takes is a problem. I let nero do a data check at the end and it turns out fine also.

I guess there is a problem with the dvd writer. The thing is also I had plextor exchange it once for a different problem. I thought plextor was a reliable manufacterer but in less than four months getting a new one there is again another problem with it.

Thanks anyways for your help, i thought it was a software problem but I'll have to get the dvd writer fixed.
