I am building a new system for myself and I believe everything will work together, but I am not sure if the DVD/CD drive is compatible. Is there any way of finding out easily or do all newer drives work with all newer systems?

This is the drive I want: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1827330&sku=L12-1090

This is the motherboard I chose: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2477872&sku=I69-2142

- any help is greatly appreciated.

The drive is completely compatible. Lite-On is a good brand drive as well. Optical drives at this late date are all ATA33 ide type drives unless you buy one that uses the usb bus by external connection.

The specifications on the board show that UDMA33 is supported along with ATA66-133. The specifications on that model burner shows that it supports a wider range of optical media then some others that either run "+" or "-" only. You are pretty much set to go unless you want a lower price on the same model Lite-On at newegg. That same model is seen for $38.99 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827106015
