Hello , I have recently gotten a problem with my cd/dvd driver on my computer... I have cleaned it already very good but Im not sure if its the driver or if the reader just simply has broken.. so I will need some help to how to reinstall it or get it to work.. etc..

Its a ST3160815A Device?

TSSTCorpCDDVDW something CD Device

As you might see I have very little experience of drivers and cd players etc.. so basically thats what it says on this computer D// Drive

Anyways , windows says it works properly when I search for errors.

And this is basically what happens:

1st. I put in any CD/DVD disk.
2nd. I wait a while and notice no windows or anything happens.
3rd. I go to My Computer and press on D// Drive where the cd/dvd is located.
4th. I wait a while for it to come up , and I notice it doesnt come up.
5th. I take out the CD/DVD as I see the computer crashed..
6th. When the CD/DVD Is out again the D// Drive pops up and the computer runs normally again.

This happens basically , so I guess the Drive cant read ANY CD/DVDS I TRIED WITH MANY !! No one seems to work..

Sometimes when I press up D// drive with cd/dvd disc in computer it opens but says nothing is in there , as its not recognized..

Please help me locate the problem, thankyou

Open up your case and unplug your ide ribbon or sata cable from the dvd rom and motherboard and re-insert it again.
Some times the connections can become loose.

If your computer CS drive is not being detected, you must have not installed the CD/DVD ROM drivers or they are corrupted. You need to follow some easy steps to know whether the CD drivers are not installed or are corrupted.

Right click on My Computer and go to Properties. Click the Hardware tab and the select the Device Manager option. In the list, click on plus sign which is beside the DVD/CD-ROM drives. If you get a CD drive after you click the plus sign and you notice a red colored cross beside it, it is an indication that the operating system did not recognize the drive. So, right click on the drive name and select enable. This will solve your problem. If it does not show the drive, it indicates that the system has not recognized the driver or the drivers are not correct. In which case, go to the BIOS of the system. Start the computer and press F8 or F1 continuously when the system is booting. You will now get into the BIOS setup and see the proper options to know whether the CD/DVD ROM is on the list of the drivers.

follow the troubleshoot wizard.. maybe the incomplete configuration registry is the reason for it..
