DVD Drive has a mind of it's own!!!

Had a mate ask me a few days ago 'what would cause the drive to open and close continuously'? Apparently it only does this about 10 minutes after the PC is turned on, so something must be triggering it. It will not stop until the PC is shut down. Sorry, but I have no idea what make the drive is.

Could be a few things, but the drive's probably shot. I recall an old computer at school doing that. We ended up simply tossing the old drive.

You could suggest loading new firmware if there's any available.
